Question
From where should the people of Makkah enter ihraam for Umrah? If their summer home is in al-Hada (which is beyond the meeqaat), where should they enter ihraam for Umrah?
Answer
Praise be to Allaah.
The people of Makkah should enter ihraam for ‘Umrah from outside the Haram, such as at al-Tan’eem. If they live in al-Hada during the summer, they should enter ihraam from where they are, because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, when he defined the meeqaats: “… and whoever is closer than that should enter ihraam from where he sets out, and the people of Makkah should enter ihraam from Makkah.” Agreed upon.
And it was proven in al-Saheehayn that he (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) told ‘Aa’ishah, when she wanted to do ‘Umrah and she was in Makkah, to enter ihraam from outside the Haram.
And Allah is the Source of strength.
